INTERVIEW (State & International levels only)
A closed group interview with the judges. This segment of competition is designed to assess poise, grooming and communication skills. (Note: Interview is NOT an intelligence test.) A simple, tailored Sunday or business dress, skirt or suit is suitable for this event.
Casual wear is the time for the participant to be wear a “dressy” casual outfit. This includes shorts, pants, skirts or a casual dress (NO SWIMSUITS OR COSTUMES). During Casual Wear, each contestant will introduce herself at the microphone giving her name, age and hometown. We follow a very simple modeling routine, ensuring each participant the same amount of time onstage. Note: Routines, waving, blowing kisses, etc. are not appropriate for this type of pageant.
For Teen and Woman Divisions (13-26 years) full length formal gowns are required. Girls age 12 and under should wear a simple, Sunday-type dress, no longer than the knee. "Pageant dresses" are not appropriate for Cinderella Pageant children's age divisions. Her party dress, for example, should be something that she would ACTUALLY WEAR to an event such as a wedding, a church event or Easter-type pictures. Naturally, garments chosen should be in good taste and appropriate for the participant’s age. Cinderella Pageants were not designed to be a “clothes show” and your pageant wardrobe should be kept simple and appropriate for your age group.
TALENT (Mini Miss, Miss, Teen, and Woman Divisions, ages 7 & up, Only)
The talent portion of the competition is to assess the participant's ability to entertain. Some examples of Talent Presentations are Dancing, Ventriloquism, Singing, Twirling, Karate, Tumbling, Cheer Dances, Monologues, Instruments (not provided), etc. Talent music must be recorded on a CD and be the only song on that CD. Please bring a back up CD. Talent time cannot exceed 2 minutes and 30 seconds. You'll turn in talent CD at registration.
TOT PERSONALITY (Tot Division, ages 3-6, Only)
Instead of performing a talent, the 3-6 age division take part in a short onstage interview. The MC will be seated onstage with each participant, individually, and ask questions regarding the info you will provide on her entry form. This was designed to encourage the 3-6 year old participants to develop their personal skills in communication and personality projection, therefore we encourage more of a conversation, rather than a question & answer segment. For example, you may hear questions stated as "Tell me about..." rather than "What is...". Tots are encouraged to remain their party dress or something similar for Tot Personality.
At check-in on pageant day, participants will turn in one photo of herself, typically a headshot or similar, to be judged by our panel of judges. They are looking for personality in the picture as well as a nice quality photograph. Don't worry if you don't have the "right" photo for your first preliminary pageant. No one does! Just turn in the best you have and your director will guide you in getting the perfect photo for the next pageant. These pictures will be returned after crowning and can be no larger than an 8X10.
